Children's Dentistry in Beverly, Chicago
Gentle, patient care from the very first tooth through the teen years — with siblings booked back to back, Saturday appointments, and you right there in the room.
A first dentist your child will actually like
The habits and feelings kids form about the dentist tend to stick for life. So we take our time. Dr. Rowe and the team explain what is happening in kid-friendly words, show each tool before using it, and celebrate every brave little patient. The review parents quote most often says Dr. Rowe helped their children lose their fear of the dentist. That is the goal for every child who comes in.
Your child's first visit
Bring your child in by their first birthday, or when the first tooth appears. Early visits are short and relaxed:
- Meet and greet — your child gets to see the room, ride the chair up and down, and meet the team.
- A gentle look — Dr. Rowe checks the teeth and gums, often with your little one sitting on your lap.
- Tips for home — how much toothpaste to use, bottle and sippy-cup habits, teething, and thumb-sucking.
- No rush — if your child just wants to watch this time, that is a perfectly good first visit.
If your child is nervous
Tell us when you book, and we will schedule extra time. We go slowly, let your child hold the mirror, and stop when they need a break. Parents are always welcome in the room. For older children who need a little more help, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is a mild, safe option that wears off within minutes, and Dr. Rowe will talk it through with you first.
Care for kids and teens
- Checkups and cleanings every six months, with X-rays only when they are needed
- Dental sealants — thin protective coatings painted onto back teeth to keep cavities out of the grooves
- Fluoride treatments — a quick varnish that strengthens enamel
- Tooth-colored fillings when a cavity does show up
- Sports mouthguards custom-fitted for football, hockey, basketball, soccer and more
- Invisalign® for teens — clear aligners that come out for sports, photos and school events (see Invisalign)
- Same-day emergency visits for a chipped or knocked-out tooth (what to do right now)
One trip for the whole family
Tell the front desk who is coming, and we will book everyone back to back, parents included. Saturdays run 9am to 2pm and weekdays until 5pm, so most families never have to pull a child out of school. Our staff speak Spanish, so the whole family can be cared for in the language they are most comfortable in.
Paying for your child's care
We accept most major PPO dental plans and verify your child's benefits before the visit, so you know the cost up front. HSA and FSA cards are welcome. We do not accept Medicaid or All Kids. See insurance and payment for the full list of plans.

What parents ask us before they book
What age should my child's first dental visit be?
By the first birthday, or when the first tooth appears, whichever comes first. That first visit is short and friendly: a quick look, a gentle count of teeth, and tips for brushing at home.
My child is scared of the dentist. What do you do differently?
Tell us when you book. We schedule extra time, go slowly, show your child each tool before we use it, and if the first visit is just sitting in the chair and meeting the team, that counts as a success. For older children who need more help, Dr. Rowe can talk with you about nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
Can I be in the room with my child?
Yes. Most parents stay with younger children, and you are always welcome in the room.
Can my kids be seen back to back, or with me?
Yes. Tell the front desk who is coming and we book the chairs back to back, so the whole family is seen in one trip. Saturday appointments run 9am to 2pm.
How often should my child come in?
Every six months for most children. Kids with a lot of cavities may need to come more often, and Dr. Rowe will tell you if that applies.
Do you accept Medicaid or All Kids?
No. We do not accept Medicaid or All Kids. We accept most major PPO dental plans, plus HSA and FSA cards, and we will verify your child's benefits before the visit.
What should I do if my child knocks out a tooth?
For an adult (permanent) tooth, pick it up by the top, not the root, keep it in milk, and call us right away at 773-366-8718. Do not put a baby tooth back in the socket; just call us. If your child has a head injury, go to the emergency room first.
