What Is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligners created for you and only you. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable, clear, and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners gradually shifts your teeth into place, and you'll start a new set of aligners on a regular customized schedule until your treatment is complete.

Unlike metal braces, Invisalign aligners are removable — so you can eat whatever you want, brush and floss normally, and smile confidently throughout your entire treatment.

Are You a Good Candidate for Invisalign?

With Dr. Rowe's training and expertise, Invisalign can work for almost everyone. It effectively treats a wide range of concerns:

  • Crowded teeth — when there isn't enough room in your jaw for all your teeth
  • Gapped teeth — spaces between teeth that can trap food and lead to gum issues
  • Overbite — when upper front teeth overlap the lower teeth
  • Underbite — when lower teeth sit in front of upper teeth when biting down
  • Crossbite — when upper and lower jaws don't align side-to-side
  • Open bite — when upper and lower teeth don't meet when the mouth is closed

The best way to find out is to book a free video consult with Dr. Rowe. Call 773-366-8718 or book online — no obligation.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

The length of treatment depends on the severity of your case. The average case takes about 11–12 months. Simple cases can finish in as little as 6 months; more complex bites take longer. Dr. Rowe will give you a projected timeline from your digital scan at the consultation, before you commit to anything.

The Invisalign Process — Step by Step

1

Free Video Consult

Dr. Rowe will meet with you, review your concerns, and explain how Invisalign can work for your specific situation. If you're ready to proceed, we can start right away with a digital scan — saving you a separate visit.

2

Digital Scanning (No Messy Impressions!)

Instead of the traditional gag-inducing impressions, we use a state-of-the-art digital scanner to map your mouth in minutes. More accurate, far more comfortable. We also take X-rays and photos — all at no extra charge.

3

See Your Smile Preview

About three weeks after your scan, you'll meet with Dr. Rowe to see a computerized animation of your projected Invisalign treatment. At this stage, you'll learn exactly how many trays you'll need and how long treatment will take. You get to see the result before we even start.

4

Receive Your Aligners & Begin

Once you approve the animation, your custom trays are ready in about three weeks. From that point, you'll wear your aligners 22–24 hours a day — removing only to eat and clean. The more consistently you wear them, the faster your results.

5

Ongoing Check-Ins

Throughout your treatment, Dr. Rowe will meet with you as needed to guide you to success. For your convenience, this can involve a minimal number of visits — but you're always welcome to come in more often if you prefer.

6

Retainers — Included Free

When you and Dr. Rowe are happy with your results, you'll receive a free set of upper and lower retainers. You'll wear them 22 hours/day for the first 3 months, then nightly to maintain your straight smile long-term. They also double as whitening trays!

What to Avoid With Invisalign

✓ You CAN

  • Eat and drink anything — just remove trays first
  • Drink alcohol (clean trays and teeth afterward)
  • Play sports and exercise normally
  • Brush and floss your teeth as usual
  • Whiten your teeth using your retainers

✗ Avoid These

  • Curry, turmeric, yellow mustard — they stain trays
  • Removing trays for more than 2 hours/day
  • Drinking hot beverages with trays in (warps plastic)
  • Cleaning trays with colored or scented soaps

Tip: If you plan to eat curry or other staining foods, save it for the last day of that tray set — so any staining doesn't affect the remaining wear time.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

Most practices price a full Invisalign case somewhere in the range of $5,000 to $7,500, and many of them quote a figure that turns out to exclude the records appointment, the refinement aligners at the end, or the retainers you need afterward to hold the result.

Comfort Family Dental prices Invisalign as one all-inclusive fee. There is no second bill later.

Your all-inclusive fee: $3,279. That covers the consultation, the digital scan, photos and X-rays, every set of aligners, any refinement aligners needed to finish the case, your retainers at the end, and every appointment along the way.

How the deposit works

After your consultation, the front desk books your records appointment — the visit where we take the scan, photos and X-rays. We collect an $89 deposit to hold that appointment. It is credited toward your balance when you proceed, and refunded in full if you decide not to.

Five ways to pay

Option
How it works
What you pay
1. Pay in full
Settled at your records appointment by cash, check, card, HSA or FSA
$3,279 — the lowest total cost
2. Paycheck financing
Third-party lender, payment drafted from your bank account twice a month. Soft credit check only
Around $89 per paycheck; full term and any interest disclosed in writing before you sign
3. CareCredit
Healthcare credit line with promotional interest-free periods, subject to approval
A fixed monthly payment, quoted to you at the consultation
4. In-office plan
A down payment followed by scheduled installments over a few months, arranged directly with us
Down payment plus installments — no third party involved
5. Insurance assignment
We bill your plan directly and handle the paperwork; you cover the balance
$3,279 less your estimated benefit, subject to a minimum down payment

Financing is subject to credit approval. Interest rates, terms and total repayment amounts vary by lender and by your approval, and are disclosed to you in writing before you sign anything. Some insurers reimburse the patient directly rather than the practice, which makes option 5 unavailable on those plans — we will tell you which applies to you.

Using dental insurance

Many dental plans include some orthodontic benefit, but not all of them extend it to clear aligners, and some cover orthodontics only up to a certain age. Where a plan does cover Invisalign, reimbursement commonly lands somewhere between $1,000 and $3,000 as a lifetime orthodontic maximum rather than an annual one.

We will verify your specific benefit before you commit, submit the claim, and follow it up. You will know the number before you decide.

If you do not have insurance

Roughly half the people who start Invisalign with us pay for it without any orthodontic benefit at all. That is what options 2 through 4 exist for. An HSA or FSA card also works, and there is no surcharge on those.

Start with a free video consult

The consultation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Dr. Rowe will tell you whether you are a candidate, roughly how long your case would take, and exactly what it would cost — in writing, before you decide.

Prefer to do it from your phone? The video consultation takes a few minutes — no trip to the office required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does dental insurance cover Invisalign?

Many dental insurance plans cover Invisalign under the orthodontic maximum portion of the policy, though limitations and age restrictions may apply. Dr. Rowe's team will verify your coverage and submit to your insurance when you begin treatment — and we're experts at maximizing your reimbursement.

Does Invisalign actually work?

Yes — Invisalign is clinically proven to work comparably to braces for straightening teeth and correcting bite issues, gapped teeth, and crowding. With the right provider and patient compliance (wearing your trays consistently), results are excellent.

Can I get Invisalign if I have an overbite?

Yes. Invisalign is designed to correct overbites — when your upper front teeth overlap your lower teeth. This is one of the most common reasons patients seek alignment treatment, and Invisalign handles it effectively. Dr. Rowe will assess the severity of your case at your free consultation.

Can I get Invisalign if I have an underbite?

Yes. Invisalign can correct many underbites — when your lower teeth sit in front of your upper teeth when you bite down. Severe underbites may require surgery alongside Invisalign treatment. Each patient is different, which is why a consultation is so important.

Is Invisalign better than braces?

For most adults and teens, Invisalign offers significant advantages: less visible, no diet restrictions, easier to clean, and more comfortable day-to-day. Traditional braces may be better for younger children who need less self-management. Dr. Rowe will help you choose the right option for your specific situation.

How do I clean my Invisalign aligners?

Clean your aligners by gently brushing them with toothpaste and rinsing in lukewarm water. Avoid hot water (it can warp the plastic) and colored or scented soaps that may discolor the trays.

What restrictions will I have during treatment?

Very few! You remove your trays to eat and drink, so there are essentially no food restrictions. The main rule is wear time — you must wear your aligners 22–24 hours per day for the best results. We also recommend avoiding curry, turmeric, and yellow mustard while trays are in, as these can cause irreversible staining.
